Similar like to the color and depth data Kinect SDK also capable of capturing the infrared (IR) data stream. The Kinect sensor returns 16 bits per pixel infrared data with a resolution of 640 x 480 as an color image format, and it supports up to 30 FPS. Following are the couple of images ( taken in a… Read More »
Kinect device has a color camera that delivers the color stream data with the combination of three basic color components red, green and blue (RGB). This stream data is nothing but a succession of still image frame and the sensor can deliver them with a range of 12 to 31 frame per second (fps) depends on the resolution… Read More »
This is an interesting question. Can we really adjust sensor based on user positions ? The answer will be YES, We can. But limitation is only either in horizontal or vertical direction. Kinect device has a tiny motor which is used to change the camera and sensor’s angles, to get the correct position of the human skeleton.… Read More »
In one of our previous tip ( Using Kinect Instance Id to Initialize the Kinect Sensor ) we have seen how we can initialize Kinect device using the instance id. In this tip, you will see how we can use the instance id to get the device index position.
You can capture the Kinect sensor image data stream either in format of color or depth data. Both the data streams can be capture in parallel as the data is being captured in two different channel. Sensor start sending the data only when the stream channels are enabled and sensor is running. You can check the stream channel … Read More »
In a single word, the answer is “No”. The SDK, as the name suggest, is a developer toolkit, which requires only for development. “Kinect for Windows Runtime”, can take care of the Kinect application execution in the end user system or production environment when you have an executable Kinect application along with other application dependency.
Every Kinect sensor can be uniquely identified by an instance id. You can track and initialize each device connected based on that instance id when multiple devices are connected to the system. This instance id can be either the DeviceConnectionId or UniqueKinectId.
This tip shows you how to get list of all the Kinect sensor which are connected with system. The KinectSensor class has a static property of type KinectSensorCollection, named KinectSenors which consists of the collection of sensors that are connected with system.
