Using Visual Studio 2015 you can now also update the installed extension automatically. If the Auto-Update option is enabled, the extension would be updated automatically as and when the updates are available without any user interaction. And we really don’t need look into the update notification to manually update these extensions and restart the Visual Studio for the same.
Navigate to Tools –> Extension and Updates. For extension which allows auto update will have this “Automatically update this extension” enabled.
Incase you don’t want this to be update automatically, and want it to be appear in update tab so that you can take action manually, unchecked it.
You can do this for global level, which mean for All / None Extension and for Per User / All User Extension. From the Tool –> Options dialog, navigate to “Extension and Updates” option.
If the extension does not support the Auto Update, you will have the message displayed over there to update it from updates tabs.
Hope this helps
